Cargo Management System

CARGO MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

1.  What is the purpose of the system?

            Cargo transport is a form of transport which is designed to move goods from one location to another. In our database system, transport information will be kept distributedly. The headquarter of the company can communicate with the branches located in the cities, therefore those branches’ information can be seen by the headquarter of the company. The branch has the comprehensive information (eg. staff information), but it will be aware of the rest of the branches’ necessary information (eg. goods information).

2.  What are the functions of that system?

Transfer center ->Izmir, Ankara etc.

Branch -> Konak, Urla etc.

The headquarter of our system deals with pricing, and it accesses to the statistical information (eg. monthly incomes) of branches located in cities. It doesn’t deal with the transportation of goods.

            The transfer centers store the destination address of all the goods received. Later on, they store the destination branch address of the goods that will be distributed to.

The branches store the information of goods that are coming from the transfer centers (eg. destination address of the good, type of good, information of the receiver) and the information of goods that are coming from the senders and will be sent to the transfer centers (eg. cost of goods, information of the sender, the percentage of promotion if it exists for current customer, information of invoice )

3.What are the data requirements?

            The database of the headquarter must keep pricing per deci, customer complaints and promotion types, information of employees and vehicles working in headquarter.

The database of transfer centers must keep the information of the destination branch name of the coming goods and the information of the sender branch name of the coming goods, information of employees and vehicles working in transfer centers.

            The database of branches must keep sender and receiver information(eg. name, address), package details(type of goods, statue of delivery of goods), destination address, information of employees and vehicles working in branches.

4.  What is the access frequency of users?

            In the database of the headquarter, weekly incomes has the highest frequency. The other branch information is not accessed often.

            In the database of the transfer centers, destination branch and the branch information of coming goods have the highest frequency.

            In the database of the branches, customer information and goods information(address, type) have the highest frequency.

5. What types of queries are used on the system?

The headquarter updates the pricing per deci, sees complaints, unions the information of branches and city centers, inserts new branches and the information of employees and vehicles, updates the city centers and the information of employees and vehicles, and deletes branches, employees and vehicles.

The transfer center inserts new coming goods and updates the information of statue of delivery of goods to the branches. Also, the transfer center inserts, updates and deletes the information of employees and vehicles.

The branch inserts new coming goods, updates the information of statue of delivery of goods to the branches. Also, it inserts, updates and deletes information of employees and vehicles. In addition to this, it inserts, updates and deletes information of new customers(with or without promotions).

The customers insert complaints, follow the delivery status of goods, the status of complaints and see the promotion types as select query.
